Described as “one of the very finest and most beautiful houses in the United States” by architectural historian Fiske Kimball, Dumbarton House has stood on the heights of Georgetown for over two centuries. Built during the tumultuous presidencies of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the house has been restored to show it as it might have appeared during the time of its first resident, Joseph Nourse, who served as register of the US Treasury for the first six presidents of the United States. The Friends of the National Library of Medicine (FNLM) invite you to this beautiful museum to network with guests from the National Library of Medicine and to learn more about our programs.
Dumbarton House is located in Georgetown, within walking distance of the Hilton Washington, less than a mile through neighborhoods with embassies and traditional DC architecture.
FNLM is dedicated to promoting, publicizing, and supporting the National Library of Medicine and its functions. FNLM supports a large variety of activities, including publications, awards and recognition initiatives, traveling exhibitions, and annual conferences.
