in a public library. After receiving her master's of library and information
science degree from the University of South Carolina in 1999, she went on to
work at academic and school libraries, specializing in creating fun and innovative
outreach programs. Responsible for overseeing both staff and patron computing
in the library, Barker also works to educate and inform UVA's Health System
community about emerging and mobile technologies and their possible impacts
on work and life. Believing that technology has the power to affect positive
change, Barker strives to share that message through classes, consults, social
media, and publishing in the profession.
