Introduction

There are several reasons why you as a continuing education instructor may wish to transfer your course to a Web environment. While there are too many personal or specific reasons to list them all, there are a few worth mentioning.

  • Ability for you to reach a broader audience, including international medical librarians who may have a more difficult time traveling to conferences or gaining access to needed continuing education courses.
  • Ability to offer your content and knowledge to the medical librarian community without constantly having to travel to teach.
  • Ability to offer your content and material without the constraint of fitting it into a 4, 6, or 8 hour traditional continuing education format.
  • Ability to redefine your audience and potentially offer your material to interested individuals outside of the medical librarian field.
