To enhance the knowledge of electronic publishing and to explore the issues, perceptions, experiences, benefits, potential pitfalls, and challenges facing librarians as they confront these revolutionary changes in knowledge-based information delivery.

  • To provide a fundamental knowledge about electronic publishing;
  • To make health sciences librarians aware of what is happening in electronic publishing;
  • To show what electronic publications are currently available;
  • To inform health sciences librarians of the issues surrounding electronic publishing;
  • To educate health sciences librarians concerning benefits and pitfalls of electronic publishing, and to offer some potential solutions for licensing, archiving, copyright, etc;
  • To articulate how availability and acceptance of electronic publishing may be different in hospital and academic library settings.
