MLANET Editorial Board

Established October 1998; Revised September 2005
The board consists of at least seven members including the MLANET editor who serves as chair and a member who will serve as the CORE editor. Two members are appointed annually for three-year terms in consultation with the MLANET editor. A National Program Committee liaison will be appointed annually for one year in consultation with the chair of the National Program Committee for that year. The editorial board shall:

  • develop review procedures and act as referee for documents submitted for publication within MLANET
  • facilitate annual meeting content, in conjunction with the National Program Committee
  • contribute to and apply Publications Committee quality control mechanisms
  • review and establish MLANET (graphics, document template, and content creation and maintenance) standards
  • use content standards to foster member content creation and maintenance
  • maintain contact with MLA chapters, sections, committees, task forces, and SIGs to ensure appropriate member representation on MLANET
  • advise the Board of Directors on policies related to the association’s MLANET programs
  • maintain liaison with Internet site committees associated with other library and information associations and organizations that support similar goals
  • investigate advances in Internet technology and how they may be applied to MLANET in order to add value
  • monitor all aspects of MLANET content and technology implementation, and conduct ongoing evaluation and analysis
  • coordinate the association’s online efforts and provide leadership and assistance related to MLANET to groups and organizational units of the association
  • promote the “global MLANET,” made up of all member-created, association-related sites
  • develop short- and long-term MLANET goal
  • meet at least once per year to review plans and goals
  • prepare and submit annual objectives, budget, and midyear and annual reports
  • continue to maintain and expand the CORE database
