Education: Curriculum Committee (combined)

The Curriculum Committee shall, under the direction of the Education Steering Committee and in collaboration with task forces, ad hoc groups, and the Director of Education:

  • identify and solicit educational offerings;
  • connect with other MLA entities including caucuses and other groups, to identify and collaborate on education offerings;
  • review and assess proposals to ensure they are high quality, current, and align with MLA’s professional competencies;
  • communicate goals, accomplishments, and recommendations with the Education Steering Committee; and
  • maintain an operations manual that accurately reflects its work.

The Curriculum Committee consists of 8 to 12 members who are appointed because of their expertise in instruction, instructional design, assessment, and/or educational leadership:

  • 6 to 10 members at-large who serve two-year terms.
  • 1 chair serving a one-year term, previously appointed as chair-designate; if no chair-designate was available, a chair will be appointed from a pool of members at-large who are serving in their second year; and
  • 1 chair-designate appointed from the pool of members at-large who will be serving their second year; chair-designate becomes the chair the following year and will serve a third year if applicable.
