MLA ‘22 will be your first opportunity in three years to reconnect with your colleagues at an MLA annual conference. But if you can’t attend in person, there’s also a robust virtual experience planned. Whatever your needs may be, MLA ’22 offers an experience that works. 

Virtual Registration Experience

A virtual MLA ’22 meeting registration experience includes:  

More than 200 papers, lightning talks, and posters available on demand with text-chat option; some live presentation sessions may also be available, pending presenter availability.

The Full In-Person Experience in New Orleans

The in-person registration experience in New Orleans includes all of the above, plus:

  • 17 interactive immersion sessions across all practice areas.  
  • The in-person Collection Development & Resource Sharing Symposium, with six special sessions providing insights on current and post-pandemic pain points for professionals, addressing librarians and publisher relationships, and speaking to trends in scholarly communication. 
  • Two in-person CE Courses: (CE100) Essential Searching Skills for Librarians on Systematic Review Teams and (CE400) Do You Want To Be a Library Director? 
  • May 5—special public health conversation with Mona Hanna-Attisha, MD, MPH, FAAP (immediately following the McGovern Lecture). 
  • Book signings in the exhibit hall with both plenary speakers. 
  • In-person access to the Hall of Exhibits and your exhibitor representatives, plus exhibitor technology showcases, sunrise seminars, and lunch-and-learn sessions. 
  • Multiple networking (and food!) events, including the Welcome Reception, a Gathering of Caucuses and Domain Hubs, Leader and International Visitor’s Reception, Dinner dine-arounds with recommendations from your Local Assistance Committee, sponsored morning grab-and-go eats, and an in-person evening game night. 
  • Vision 2048 Working Session (You’re invited! Help shape the future of the profession). 
  • Availability of library tours and social outings. 
  • On-site amenities including MLA Resume Clinic, Quiet room, Wellness room (meditation maze, anyone?), and Member Resource room.
