Claim Academy Points for Communities-Related Roles!
Submitted by Katie Prentice, AHIP, and Tomi Gunn, Communities Transition Team
The Communities Transition Team and the MLA Board continue to be grateful to all those who are instrumental in ensuring the success of all MLA communities. Based on recommendations from the MLA Credentialing Committee, the MLA Board eagerly approved membership points in the Academy of Health Information Professionals for communities-related service.
Breakdown of approved academy points:
- Domain hub chairs (both interim and full term) will receive 20 academy points per year for their leadership of MLA domain hubs.
- Domain hub delegates may claim 10 points per year for their service in representing their caucuses
- Points for former section, now caucus, roles remain the same. Caucus officers may continue to claim 20 points per year.
- Domain hub workgroup facilitators should claim 7 points for their service.
- Domain hub workgroup section and special interest group (SIG) representatives may claim 5 academy points.
Information to remember:
- Those in temporary transitional roles—including domain hub interim chairs, workgroup facilitators and participants (section/SIG representatives)—may claim their academy points immediately.
- Those serving regular, full terms—such as caucus officers, domain hub chairs (full-term), and domain hub delegates—may claim academy points after their first full year of service, as is standard academy practice.
- Points may be claimed by submitting a screenshot or copy of your MLANET archived activity page. Your communities service will soon be documented there.
- All points will satisfy the professional association activity and MLA activity points required for Senior and Distinguished Member levels.
- The academy point index and forms now reflect the new roles and points.
