My Favorite Toronto Neighborhood – Kensington Market
by Sandy Iverson
Toronto is often called a city of neighborhoods. I’ve lived here since the late 80s and never cease to be entertained and fascinated by Kensington Market. The ‘Market’, as it is commonly referred to by locals, is a distinctive and very multicultural neighborhood of about 4 or 5 square blocks right in the heart of the city. Known for fresh and affordable produce and food from around the globe, the market is the place to go for supplies if you are planning an authentic ethnic feast and you can’t find the ingredients at your supermarket. It’s also a great place to shop for vintage clothes and furniture.
Take an afternoon or evening to explore this historic, unique and funky neighborhood while you are in Toronto. It’s a quick ride on the Spadina Streetcar from the conference venue. Get off at Nassau St.
