A LibGuide is only as good as it is readable and engaging. Learn the design skills that will enable you to create new guides and redesign outdated ones to increase your users’ engagement and understanding. Whether you are new to creating guides or are a seasoned guide administrator, you’ll benefit from the web design skills and user experience tips you’ll learn in this webinar.
Ashley Hoffman and Amy Barker, LibGuide design experts whose research paper on guide design has been viewed over 7,000 times, will show you how to transform cluttered and unattractive guides into streamlined V2 LibGuides that save you and your user’s time.
You’ll learn best practices and practical tips for guide design, including condensing content to minimize scrolling, strategically placing visual elements to break up blocks of text, and making user engagement and interaction simple, quick, and effective.
Before the webinar, you’ll receive optional pre-session readings, including the instructors’ article on guide design. During the webinar, you’ll learn how to reorganize and condense guide content, increase visual appeal with professional-looking headers and icons, and get to practice redesigning a sample page to increase readability. You’ll have an opportunity to submit your redesigned sample page for feedback.
You’ll leave the webinar with guide template and web design skills applicable to many academic fields and easily adaptable to your unique situation. And you’ll be able to experience the excitement and satisfaction of seeing how redesigning a guide without changing its content can increase the value of the guide to your users.
