As part of the TTUHSC Amarillo campus, the Harrington Library supports the faculty, residents, students, and staff in Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. The Harrington Library also serves as the physical location of the print collection for Texas Tech University's School of Veterinary Medicine.

Job Description

The Harrington Library of the Health Sciences invites candidates to apply for the position of Unit Associate Director

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, coordination, administration and management of a unit.
  • Supervision and management of Harrington Library, professional and classified staff
  • Selects resources using TTUHSC library approval plans and procedures
  • Teaches group and individuals classes and provides orientations for students, faculty and staff.
  • Prepares reports on all branch’s activities
  • Initiates and maintains extramural service in assigned geographical area, including classes, exhibits, or presentations, assists with maintaining contracts services.
  • Advises Managing Director on branch library operations, problems, and needs
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of Branch library equipment and eliminating outdated materials according to TTUHSC Libraries’ policies and procedures. Maintains inventory of all library equipment.
  • Works on committees and projects as assigned

Bachelor’s degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience on a year for year basis.

  • Master’s degree from an American Library Association accredited institution. At least three years of experience in a health environment, with a preferred two years supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with basic health science library management and supervision
  • Demonstrable teaching skills
  • Demonstrable skill in computer usage
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills in research strategy and health informatics database searching
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines, plan projects and prioritize
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
Salary Information

$90,889.85 per year: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits.
