Augusta University (AU) Libraries seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor who will provide leadership for the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) campus library in support of the MCG/Georgia Southern University (GSU) Partnership in Savannah, GA. The faculty member will hold the administrative post of Campus Library Director and will provide instruction and information services for MCG faculty and students, manage the operations of the library, and contribute to the development of embedded library services for the forthcoming MCG/GSU partnership health sciences campus. This is a non-tenure track faculty position eligible for promotion and a member of the Augusta University Library Faculty. The position will work with the campus director at AU/UGA Medical Partnership in Athens and the Director, Greenblatt Library, Augusta to coordinate services for medical students and faculty across the state. The incumbent may also explore options for advancing medical student success with the Dean of the Georgia Southern University Libraries.

Responsibilities

Teaching - 60%

Develop and maintain an appropriate medical collection for a small campus medical library. Collaborate with Augusta University Libraries to provide online access to library resources. Provide instruction in evidence based information literacy to students; support faculty using information resources for scholarship and patient care. Develop instructional materials and tutorials to support MCG/GSU faculty teaching activities.

Service - 15%

Serve on committees for the Libraries, university, and the profession. Participate in student success activities and professional development.

Scholarship - 15%

Participate in scholarship to expand the knowledge base of library literature. Collaborate with MCG/GSU faculty in research and discovery initiatives.

Administrative - 10%

Serve on the leadership team of the Augusta University Libraries. Collaborate with the Libraries' leadership team to prepare annual goals.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Masters degree from ALA accredited program.

Other Required Qualifications

- Excellent knowledge of health sciences information resources to support medical education, scholarship, and patient care.

- Classroom and individualized teaching experience in health sciences setting.

- Demonstrated experience in developing collaborative services and instruction with health sciences educators

- Demonstrated experience and record of success in project management.

- Demonstrated record of professional achievement indicative of ability to meet Augusta University Libraries faculty responsibilities in scholarship, teaching, and professional service.

- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Required Experience

Minimum of seven years public service experience in an academic health sciences library or teaching hospital providing evidence-based medicine services.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

-Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

-Evidence of ability as a teacher;

-Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

-Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

-Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

- Substantial experience working with preclinical and clinical medical education programs.

- Ability to support information needs of clinical research faculty.

- Demonstrated experience in managing library operations and services.

Salary Information

$80,000-100,000
